Sybiha: We Are Ready to Accelerate Peace Efforts, We Appreciate U.S. Leadership
Kyiv, February 8 (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said diplomacy must be prioritized and called for pressure on Russia to take peace efforts seriously.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha stated that Ukraine is ready to accelerate peace efforts and that it appreciates the leadership of the United States.
Sybiha said, “It is up to Russia to demonstrate a willingness to advance diplomacy instead of war. So far, we have only seen new attacks and indifference to peace efforts. The latest ballistic attacks on the Kyiv region today are an example of this.”
He emphasized that Moscow must be subjected to sufficient pressure to take peace efforts seriously.
The Ukrainian foreign minister also said, “For diplomacy to succeed and for a lasting peace to be achieved—supported by robust, legally binding security guarantees and backed by the military presence of allies—U.S. involvement is of critical importance.”
