Pavel: The Czech Senate is an important part of the democratic system
Prague, May 26 (Hibya) - Czech President Petr Pavel emphasized the role of the Czech Senate in the democratic system in a statement marking the institution’s 30th anniversary.
Pavel made remarks regarding the 30th anniversary of the Czech Senate at an event held at Valdstejnske jízdárne.
Pavel stated that the necessity of the Senate had been debated when it was established, but today it is clearly seen that it has secured an important place within the democratic system.
Emphasizing that democratic states need institutions that protect rules, mature public debates, and bring balance to politics, Pavel said that the Czech Senate has long successfully fulfilled this role.
In his statement, Pavel also noted that the Senate offers a more cautious and balanced approach in decision-making processes and contributes to strengthening democracy.
