Plenkovic: 30 million euros allocated for geothermal energy investments
Zagreb, October 9 (Hibya) - Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic announced that 30 million euros in grant funding has been provided for drilling four new wells to develop the country's geothermal energy capacity.
In a statement on social media, Plenkovic said that four wells had previously been drilled in the cities of Velika Gorica, Zaprešić, Osijek and Vinkovci, confirming the existence of four geothermal reservoirs. He noted that 50.8 million euros had been invested in these activities under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NPOO).
Plenkovic stated that the new funding would be used to drill one additional well in each of the four cities. He emphasized that geothermal energy is a domestic and renewable energy source capable of providing an uninterrupted heat supply throughout the year.
Addressing fluctuations in international energy markets, Plenkovic said that ensuring energy supply security and maintaining affordable energy prices were among the government's priorities. He added that, alongside measures concerning fuel, electricity and natural gas prices, the government would continue investing in domestic energy resources.
