Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot held a meeting with Democratic Republic of the Congo Mining Minister Louis Watum.

During the meeting, the parties focused on developing economic cooperation between the two countries and on new partnership models that would benefit local communities. Prevot stated, “We held productive, forward-looking discussions on strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of critical minerals. Our goal is to establish a renewed partnership that creates mutual value and benefits local populations.”

Prevot added, “The purely extractive model is now a thing of the past; this applies to both the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Belgium.”
