Russian President Putin’s Telephone Diplomacy
Moscow, August 18 (Hibya) – Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
In his phone call with Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov, Russian President Putin shared his assessments of the Russia–US summit held in Alaska.
Japarov expressed full support for steps toward a long-term resolution of the situation around Ukraine. Issues related to the further development of mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation were also discussed.
Putin spoke by phone with Brazilian President Lula da Silva. The main outcomes of the meeting between Putin and US President Donald Trump in Anchorage were discussed. Lula da Silva emphasized the importance of the information provided, particularly in the context of the work of the “Friends of Peace for Ukraine Group,” co-chaired by Brazil.
Mutual interest in further developing the Russia–Brazil dialogue and close cooperation within the BRICS framework was confirmed.
Putin also had a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During the discussion, Putin reviewed the key results of the Russia–US summit in Alaska.
Modi thanked him for the information provided. The leaders discussed prospects for a long-term resolution of the Ukraine crisis and agreed to continue dialogue on this issue as well as other urgent international matters.
Putin expressed condolences over the tragic consequences of the floods in India.
