Stubb: U.S. Senate sanctions package will strengthen support for Ukraine
Helsinki, July 29 (Hibya) - Finnish President Alexander Stubb said the sanctions package that received strong support in the U.S. Senate, together with the European Union's sanctions, will strengthen Ukraine's position.
Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced that the sanctions package against Russia, introduced by U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, advanced in the Senate by a vote of 86 to 12.
Stubb said he participated in meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. senators, where they exchanged views on the latest developments in Ukraine and Russia.
Arguing that the course of the war has recently shifted in Ukraine's favor, Stubb said the U.S. sanctions package and the European Union's 21st sanctions package would further reinforce this trend.
Stubb stressed the importance of maintaining pressure on Russia while continuing efforts to achieve a ceasefire and a just and lasting peace.
