Ukraine and Denmark sign defense and security cooperation agreement
Ankara, July 7 (Hibya) – Ukraine and Denmark have agreed to strengthen cooperation in military support, the defense industry, technology transfer, and joint production under a comprehensive defense and security cooperation agreement covering the 2026–2034 period.
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen emphasized the importance of the new defense cooperation agreement with Ukraine, stating that learning from Ukraine's defense industry is critical for the security of Europe and NATO.
Ukraine and Denmark signed a new agreement aimed at strengthening their strategic partnership in the fields of defense and security. Under the agreement covering the 2026–2034 period, the two countries will cooperate on enhancing military capabilities, defense industry collaboration, technology sharing, and joint production projects.
The agreement states that Denmark will continue its long-term support for Ukraine. Since the outbreak of the war in 2022, Denmark has provided approximately €11 billion in assistance to Ukraine, including around €9.9 billion in military aid and €1.1 billion in civilian assistance.
Commenting on the agreement, Frederiksen said that strengthening cooperation between the two countries is of great importance. Stressing that Ukraine's defense industry experience should be utilized, she stated, "As Ukraine resists every day, Europe and NATO become safer."
Denmark is expected to announce its 30th military aid package for Ukraine, worth approximately €589 million, during 2026–2027. The package will include support through Ukraine's defense industry, investments in unmanned aerial vehicles, air defense capabilities, and the development of systems designed to counter ballistic missiles.
The agreement also envisages joint cooperation in the fields of unmanned systems, artificial intelligence, electronic warfare, and air and missile defense. In addition, Ukraine's wartime experience will be shared with Danish defense institutions, while cooperation in training and military exercises is also planned.
The parties also agreed to expand joint production, technology transfer, and research and development activities between Ukrainian and Danish defense companies.
The agreement further states that Denmark will continue supporting Ukraine's reform efforts on its path toward membership in the European Union and NATO.
