UNRWA: Winter conditions further worsen living conditions in Gaza
New York, December 13 (Hibya) – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) stated that the winter season is further deteriorating the already extremely difficult living conditions in Gaza.
The agency emphasized that every rainfall means flooding, material damage and new humanitarian challenges for displaced families.
The statement noted that UNRWA teams, who are themselves displaced, continue to support the people of Gaza to the extent possible. In this context, wastewater is being drained, waste is being cleared, health services are provided, and tarpaulins, clothing and blankets are distributed to those in need.
UNRWA stressed that much more could be done, while Israeli authorities continue to prevent the agency from delivering direct assistance to the Gaza Strip. The statement also noted that UNRWA has pre-positioned aid supplies outside Gaza in sufficient quantities to meet shelter needs for up to 1.3 million people.
