US-led gains prevail in global indices
Istanbul, September 14 (Hibya) - Major indices in global equity markets ended the day predominantly in positive territory.
In US stock markets, the Dow Jones index rose 509.19 points to 52,573.29, gaining 0.98 percent, while the S&P 500 reached 7,656.98 points and the Nasdaq climbed to 26,333.04 points. The Russell 2000 index, which tracks small-cap companies, closed the day at 2,903.94 points with a gain of 0.45 percent.
The VIX Fear Index, which measures market volatility, fell 11.21 percent to 15.84. Elsewhere in the Americas, Canada's S&P/TSX index gained 0.54 percent, while Brazil's Bovespa declined 0.56 percent and Mexico's S&P/BMV IPC index lost 0.28 percent.
