Yermak: U.S. sanctions on Iran-Russia energy sector deal a blow to Moscow
Kyiv, October 10 (Hibya) – Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, commented on the U.S. sanctions against individuals, entities, and vessels linked to Iran’s energy resources, calling it an important step against Moscow’s efforts to destabilize the region.
Yermak stated that the U.S. Department of the Treasury continues to increase pressure on Iran and, consequently, on Russia. The Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has imposed sanctions on numerous individuals, organizations, and ships involved in the trade of Iranian energy resources.
He emphasized that the sanctions target Moscow’s attempts to finance terrorist networks and increase regional instability, describing them as a serious blow to the Iran-Russia “energy alliance.” Yermak added that the sanctions will have negative consequences for both Tehran and Moscow.
