Ghebreyesus: Everyone should be able to reach their destination safely
Geneva, May 13 (Hibya) – World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, during the 8th Global Road Safety Week, highlighted the global deaths of pedestrians and cyclists due to traffic accidents.
Dr. Tedros stated that every individual has the right to travel safely, saying: “However, more than a quarter of traffic-related deaths involve pedestrians and cyclists. In some regions, these deaths are rising rapidly.”
Ghebreyesus called on decision-makers to reduce speeds in cities and to create safe, connected infrastructure for walking and cycling.
