Rutte: We had a productive meeting with Erdoğan ahead of the NATO Summit
Ankara, May 13 (Hibya) - NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte gave an assessment following his meeting with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in Ankara.
Rutte noted that preparations for the NATO Summit in July were discussed and emphasized Turkey’s role within the Alliance. In a social media post, he wrote: “It was a pleasure to meet President Erdoğan today in Ankara. We discussed preparations to strengthen the Alliance ahead of the NATO Summit in July. Turkey is a determined and capable NATO ally.”
Rutte also touched on the situation in Ukraine, saying: “There is currently a real window of opportunity for progress toward peace.”
