Guterres: The world needs the United Nations more than ever
New York, May 13 (Hibya) – United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized in a statement marking the UN’s 80th anniversary that the organization's vision for peace is more vital today than ever before.
Guterres stated, “The United Nations was founded 80 years ago on the belief that peace is only possible if we act as one united human family. Today, the world needs the United Nations more than ever.”
Referring to the UN Peacekeeping Force, Guterres added that these missions must be equipped to respond to today's complex crises and future challenges: “The UN peacekeeping force must be fully equipped, aligned with the realities of our time, and strongly supported.”
