Grandi: Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have been subjected to abuse for years
New York, May 21 (Hibya) - United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi made statements regarding international reactions to Israel’s interventions, the humanitarian situation in the Palestinian territories, and the double standards of global public opinion.
United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi stated that he welcomed the international reactions to Israel’s treatment of flotilla activists and the actions of National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, emphasizing that Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, who have been subjected to violent abuse for decades, also deserve the same outrage from governments.
Assessing governments’ reactions to the flotilla incident, Grandi said: "Governments reacted angrily to Israel’s treatment of flotilla activists and Ben-Gvir’s unimaginable display of violence. Good."
Drawing attention to the long-standing suffering of the Palestinian people and calling on the international community to remain consistent, Grandi concluded his statement by saying: "However, Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank have been subjected to violent abuse for decades. This also requires the same governments to show the same outrage."
