UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, commenting on the passing of Norway’s King Harald V, highlighted the late King’s contributions to international cooperation and the partnership he built with the UN.

Expressing his sorrow over the news, Guterres said, “I am deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Norway’s King Harald V.”

Referring to King Harald V’s legacy and international outlook, Guterres said, “He embodied Norway’s deep commitment to international solidarity and cooperation, which was also reflected in his country’s unwavering partnership with the UN.”

Guterres concluded his statement by saying, “I extend my deepest condolences to His Majesty King Haakon VIII and to the Government and people of Norway.”
