Speaking at the National Legends award ceremony, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenski drew attention to the historical truth underlying statehood and said Ukraine would resolutely continue to preserve its existence and independence.

Referring to the significance of the ceremony in the concept of statehood, Zelenski said, “This year’s National Legends ceremony highlights a very important, key — even fundamental — pillar of statehood. It highlights the truth about us, about our history, about our struggle. This truth is simple: Ukraine existed, Ukraine exists, Ukraine will exist.”

Highlighting the contributions of the award recipients, Zelenski said, “One of the symbols of this is our National Legends. Those who have been creating for people for decades and bringing glory to Ukraine. Those who fought for Ukraine and our people long before its official revival. And those who throughout the war have demonstrated their very best, their legendary qualities and virtues.”

Zelenski said, “All of you — through your work, talent, courage and resilience demonstrated throughout all this time — prove that Ukraine is always legendary.”
