Tajani: These young people represent Italy extraordinarily well
Rome, August 28 (Hibya) - Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani visited Italian athletes competing in the Mediterranean Games in Taranto and highlighted the contribution of sports diplomacy to peace.
Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani met with athletes as part of the Mediterranean Games and commented on the achievements of the Italian national team and the unifying power of sport across cultures.
Congratulating the athletes, Tajani said, “Today in Taranto, I greeted our athletes who are currently competing in the Mediterranean Games: they are achieving excellent results.”
Highlighting the example set by the young athletes, Tajani said, “These young people represent Italy extraordinarily well and are examples of perseverance, rigor and commitment. The Mediterranean Games remind us that the ‘Mare Nostrum’ has always been a place of encounter and dialogue between cultures.”
Referring to the role of sports diplomacy, Tajani said, “For this reason, we believe in the need to continue building bridges and promoting peace through sports diplomacy and the efforts of our athletes.”
Tajani concluded his statement by saying, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to all the athletes and the teams supporting them for their commitment and for representing Italy so exceptionally well around the world.”
