Guterres: Inequality has become a cancer in our societies
New York, 26 November (Hibya) – UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres stated that the concentration of power and wealth in the hands of a narrow elite deepens inequality and has turned into a “social cancer”.
Guterres noted that global inequalities erode trust in democracy and pose serious risks to the sustainability of societies.
Emphasizing that the concentration of power and wealth among a small minority worsens inequality and has become a social cancer, he said: “Inclusive, fair and broad-based economic growth is our best weapon against poverty, hunger and unemployment.”
Guterres stressed that the world must build a stronger global economy that works for everyone.
