Tsahkna: Russia must be held accountable for its crimes and withdraw its forces from Ukraine
Tallinn, 26 November (Hibya) – Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna reminded that holding Russia accountable for the crimes it has committed and withdrawing its forces from all Ukrainian territory are prerequisites for the peace process.
During the EU foreign ministers’ meeting, Tsahkna stated that initiatives to end the war in Ukraine can move forward only by setting clear conditions for the aggressor.
Emphasizing that Russia must be held responsible for its crimes and withdraw its troops as a precondition for peace, he said: “We cannot reward aggression or accept the forcible alteration of borders.”
Tsahkna noted that Ukraine has the right to freely determine its own future, including NATO and EU membership, adding: “Europe must urgently increase its support, use Russia’s frozen assets to help Ukraine, and raise the cost of this war for Russia. Ukraine’s security is Europe’s security.”
