New York, September 24 (Hibya) - French President Emmanuel Macron met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
French President Macron met with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
Reiterating his demand for the immediate release of state hostages arbitrarily held under inhumane conditions in Iran – Cecile Kohler, Jacques Paris, and Lennart Monterlos – Macron said: "France never abandons its children."
Emphasizing that Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons, Macron stated: "Due to Iran's failure to meet its nuclear obligations, together with Germany and the United Kingdom we decided to trigger the Snapback mechanism to reimpose sanctions on Iran."
Macron stressed that there would be no concessions on demands for full access by IAEA inspectors in Iran, transparency regarding enriched material stockpiles, and the immediate resumption of negotiations. "An agreement remains possible. Only a few hours are left. It is up to Iran to respond to the legitimate conditions we have set. For the security of the region and the stability of the world," he said.
