Brussels, December 19 (Hibya) – European Parliament President Roberta Metsola described the presentation of the symbolic first set of euro coins ahead of Bulgaria’s accession to the euro family on January 1, 2026, as an important development for Europe and Bulgaria.

Emphasizing that Bulgaria and Europe are entering an important period, Metsola said: “Two weeks remain until an important moment for Bulgaria and Europe.”
Referring to the presentation of the symbolic first set of euro coins, Metsola stated: “We thank Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov for presenting the symbolic first set of euro coins before Bulgaria joins the euro family on January 1, 2026.”
Highlighting the significance of the coins, Metsola added: “These coins beautifully blend Europe’s unity and shared identity with Bulgaria’s rich history and heritage.”
