WHO: Walking and cycling are the key to healthier and more livable cities
Brussels, May 9 (Hibya) – The World Health Organization (WHO) stated that promoting walking and cycling in cities would reduce traffic congestion, improve air quality, and make streets quieter.
In its statement, the WHO said: “More walking and cycling means safer, healthier, and more livable cities.” The organization emphasized that active mobility in urban life improves public health and contributes to environmental sustainability.
Authorities called for prioritizing pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly practices in urban planning.
