Zelensky: We are grateful for Finland’s steadfast support
Kyiv, October 10 (Hibya) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb to discuss security guarantees, joint icebreaker construction with the United States in the Arctic, and Russia’s attacks on energy infrastructure.
President Zelensky described his meeting with President Stubb as “good” and expressed gratitude for Finland’s consistent and firm support. He noted that Stubb shared details of his meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and that the agreement between Finland and the United States on joint icebreaker construction would contribute to Arctic security.
Security guarantees for Ukraine were among the main topics of the meeting. Zelensky said the issue had become a priority, welcomed U.S. support, and stated that details now needed to be formalized with European allies. He added that active cooperation with the willing coalition would begin in October–November.
Zelensky also said that a draft resolution condemning the abduction and deportation of Ukrainian children was being prepared for submission to the United Nations General Assembly, expressing confidence in the support of Ukraine’s partners. He further addressed new Russian attacks on energy infrastructure, outlining Ukraine’s defense needs and asking Finland to consider how it could assist.
