Araghchi: We welcome Türkiye’s efforts for peace and stability
Ankara, January 31 (Hibya) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi said he discussed Iran-Türkiye relations and regional developments with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, stressing that Iran is not seeking nuclear weapons and is ready for a fair agreement.
Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi stated that he held talks with President Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Fidan on bilateral Iran-Türkiye relations and shared regional issues.
Commenting on the meetings, Araghchi said: “I am always pleased to discuss bilateral Iran-Türkiye relations and common regional issues with President Erdoğan and Foreign Minister Fidan.”
Referring to Iran’s nuclear program, Araghchi said: “Iran has never pursued nuclear weapons. We are ready for a fair and balanced nuclear agreement that secures the legitimate interests of our people, does not include nuclear weapons, and guarantees the lifting of sanctions.”
Highlighting Türkiye’s regional peace efforts, Araghchi noted: “Türkiye, together with our other brotherly neighbors, is undertaking goodwill initiatives to ensure peace and stability in the region. The Islamic Republic of Iran is grateful for these efforts and welcomes them.”
Emphasizing Iran’s openness to regional dialogue, Araghchi added: “Iran is always ready to cooperate with countries of the region to preserve peace and stability and to protect the region from unlawful attacks.”
