European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen stated that during a week of intense peace negotiations, she maintained contact with leaders of the Volunteers' Coalition.

Highlighting that despite all pressure, they remain committed to ensuring a just and sustainable peace for Ukraine, Leyen said: “Sustainability means that any peace agreement must not contain the seeds of future conflicts and must not destabilize the broader European security architecture.”

Leyen added that the need for solid and reliable security guarantees was also discussed at the meeting, saying: “I informed the leaders about our work to secure funding for Ukraine for 2026–2027. Our proposals are on the table, and the sense of urgency is clear to everyone.”
