Sybiha: The UN General Assembly has adopted an important Ukrainian initiative
Kyiv, 11 December (Hibya) – Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said that the United Nations (UN) General Assembly has adopted the draft resolution on the Chernobyl disaster.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Sybiha announced that the UN General Assembly has adopted an important Ukrainian initiative — the draft resolution regarding the Chernobyl disaster.
He noted that the adoption of this document not only ensures the correct Ukrainian transliteration is used in UN records, but also draws attention to the crimes committed by the aggressor against the Ukrainian people and the threats posed to global nuclear security.
“We thank the 97 member states that supported the resolution. Unfortunately, Russia has once again attempted to use its satellite state, Belarus, to conceal its own crimes and promote an alternative text that does not mention the attacks on Chernobyl facilities. I thank all countries that did not support the Belarusian draft and did not remain indifferent to this initiative.”
