The US adds branches of the Muslim Brotherhood in three countries to its terror list
Washington, 13 January (Hibya) – US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that, as part of the United States’ fight against Muslim Brotherhood structures, the organization’s branches in Lebanon, Jordan, and Egypt have been added to the terror list.
US Secretary of State Rubio stated that the Muslim Brotherhood in Lebanon has been designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist entity, and that the organization’s leader, Mohammed Fawzi Takkush, has also been added to the sanctions list.
Rubio noted that the Muslim Brotherhood branches in Egypt and Jordan were designated under the same framework for providing material support to the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Organization, emphasizing that these steps mark the beginning of a long-term process aimed at preventing violence and destabilizing activities by these structures and that all tools will be used to prevent the financing of their terrorist activities.
